This is a replica at "Ancient City" near Bangkok of Wat Phra Phutthabat, a Buddhist temple in Saraburi, Thailand. It is among the oldest Buddhist temples in Thailand. Its name means "temple of Buddha's footprint", Wat Phra Phutthabat was built by King Songtham in 1624 during the Ayutthaya Period following the find of a human-like footprint on a stone platform on the mountain slope of Mount Suwan Banphot or Mount Satchaphan Thakhiri. The footprint was 21 inches in width, five lest in length and 11 inches in depth. Viewing that the footprint demonstrated 108 auspicious signs of the Buddha, King Songtham ordered that a temporary Mondop (a specific square or cruciform based building or shrine) be constructed to cover the footprint. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (Ancient Siam (also known as Ancient City,, Mueang Boran) is a museum park constructed by Lek Viriyaphant and occupying over 200 acres (0.81 km2) in the shape of Thailand. Ancient Siam is dubbed as the world's largest outdoor museum: the 320-hectare "city" features 116 structures of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural attractions. The grounds of Ancient Siam correspond roughly to the shape of the kingdom, with the monuments lying at their correct places geographically. Some of the buildings are life-size replicas of existing or former sites, while others are scaled down.
