I wanted to create a tropical composition in watercolors. I am still learning how to manipulate the glazes as I do complex pieces. I sketched my drawing on Arches 140lb. Rough paper. I then masked around the leaves and flowers. Once the mask was dry I dampened my background and allowed it to partially dry. I then blended a light and medium yellow with a pale green to achieve the sunny background. Once that was dry I removed the mask and completed the leaves using several layers of glazed colors; waiting for each layer to completely dry before attempting the adjacent leaf. Once the leaves were complete and dry I followed the same process for each flower. I am very satisfied with this attempt and feel that this may be my best attempt at watercolors to date. Eager to hear your critiques.
