Song Art Contest Entry
"Lara's Theme" is the name given to a leitmotif written for the film Doctor Zhivago (1965) by composer Maurice Jarre. Soon afterward, the leitmotif became the basis of the song "Somewhere, My Love".
In 1967, "Somewhere, My Love" won Grammy Award for Best Performance by a Chorus, and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. It lost to "Michelle" by John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles.
Dr. Zhivago was the first film I saw in Germany decades ago during my working stint there. The film had a profound effect on me and I was actually freezing seeing those winter scenes. That was in Germany for the first time in my life I saw snow fall. Even today whenever I see snow I think of the wonderful movie and the lilting song 'Somewhere My Love' keeps haunting me for days. So this was the very first song that came to my mind when I saw the contest title.
This is a watercolour painting I had done sometime back. I added the blusish tint and the frosted look for the effects.
Enjoy!

Enjoy!
