Landmark Art Contest Contest Entry 
My intention was to focus on the Tyne bride the iconic entry into Newcastle strikingly similar to Sidney Harbour bridge. Both built by Dorman Long of Middlesbrough and designed by the London company Mott, Hay and Anderson. However when I went to reference photo the site the other bridges looked great with the sky behind and they too are a set of iconic landmarks to Geordieland. The others are The Swing Bridge, the High Level Bridge, Armstrong Bridge. They were built high so coal carriers could get to Dunston Staithes to load. The swing bridge links the quays of Gateshead to Newcastle and swung open to allow coal barges to go up the Tyne. There is another bridge, The Milenium Bridge but it is further down stream toward to coast ...
