Mudd Lake is located about 40 miles north of Anchorage in the Matanuska Valley. This was Saturday at 6 PM. Standing there, I could hear the silence, the road in to this area is not state maintained and is very muddy during the warmer months, needing a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get through. It was lightly snowing .
