Keeping safe

My country ?tis of thee

Last year I purchased a copy of a painting at a yard sale. It sat around I. My garage, I looked at it everyday, multiple times a day sometimes. The other day I decided to take it apart for the frame and this poem was on cardboard and was the backing for the painting I bought. Thought it was fitting for the times. I can?t tell who the author is because the poem was cut out of something else. It?s tilted don?t quit. When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, when the road you?re trudging seems all uphill, when the funds are low, and the debts are high, and you want to smile, but you have to sigh, when care pressing you down a bit , rest if you must, but don?t you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns,as everyone of sometimes learns, and many a failure turns about, when he might have one had he stuck it out; Don?t give up though the pace seems slow, you may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint of the clouds of doubt, and you never can tell how close you are , it may be near when it seems so far;so stick to the fight when you?re hardest hit, it?s when things seem worse, that you must not quit. Hope everyone enjoys thanks John

Mixed Media: None | I used pencil and acrylic paint for the colors. I went back over some areas with a finer point black pen. Then when I was erasing and cleaning up some areas. I realized that I really liked the eraser shavings, so I kept them. I made them stick by applying back pressure after I figured out how to turn it over and not spill them. I also thought they where very fitting considering the current state of the country. 18x 24
