A white spider (Misumena vatia) capturing a bumble bee on a rose flower in my garden.
Misumena vatia is a species of crab spider with holarctic distribution. These spiders may be yellow or white, depending on the flower in which they are hunting (active camouflage). Especially younger females, which may hunt on a variety of flowers such as daisies and sunflowers, may change color at will. However, the color changing process is not instant and can require up to 25 days to complete.
