I took a photo of this old wooden pub sign (in Notting Hill). It comes from the 'Gaiety Bar' on the South Parade Pier, Southsea, which opened in 1879. In 1904 there was a terrible fire on the pier, in which the central pavilion was destroyed. But a decade later was back in business. During WW2 this very pier was partly dismantled, because of the threat of a sea invasion. In 1974 The Who, filmed a few scenes of 'Tommy', on this very location. Not sure how old this sign is (possibly Victorian) but certainly has some history behind it and I thought it was a very lovely artwork, of a charming lady.
