The Main Pool at the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge had been drained,stranding a large quantity of carp, which attracted numerous herons,egrets,eagles and ospreys. This is a photo of a great blue heron striking at a carp that swam by a bit too close,unfortunately the heron came up empty beaked! Adjusted sharpness and brightness.
