These terrific three dogs were at different times, and each was truly a family member. Our boys grew up with the black one named Brownie by our seven-year-old son. She loved so much that the day she passed, the vet said she waited until everyone, mostly separately, had come to see her; then, at 4 PM he called. Peewee, the red chocolate Dachshund gave and loved attention. He'd stand straight up at just a few months to see what was happening, when wanting something, knock hard on my husband, Ron's knee. The last one, Happy, the Russel Terrier, was so smart he could bring me a ball in a shoe at the same time. Although young when at family overnight and a bad fall, before he recovered, he'd try to get down the hall someway for that ball. I have been working on doing a painting of these dogs for a while. They are from different times. After sketching each and bringing together, I transferred the three onto a wooden plaque which I'd gessoed black (learned from that mistake) then used colored pencils, but as it was difficult to get sufficient on Happy I applied some acrylic then continued in colored pencils. For this contest I decided to use the completed painting but drew/painted a different background via layers on computer.
