Mushrooms and Conks Contest Entry
Farther up the road, I discovered a large clump of the eastern jack ?o lantern mushrooms ( Omphalotus illudens) growing at the base of an old stump. They are quite easy to spot with their bright, orange coloration. Bedsides decaying stumps, these mushrooms often grow on buried roots and at the base of hardwood trees in eastern North America. Adjusted sharpness, and brightness.
