Mixed Media: Minor Sheet music prepped with watercolour ground, and let it dry for 24hrs. The ground is a paste that dries clear, it turns any surface absorbant like watercolour paper. Although not as resilient as high quality paper it does the job. Drew outlines in pencil, used watercolours and watercolour pencils for the coloured areas. The puppet master's hands were drawn with HB, 4B, and 8B water soluable graphite and blended with water. The strings were done in marker.

This piece is representative of the pandemic as I see it.
I think that music is an essential art form, for me it's as important as having air to breathe. Since the pandemic began, so many essential things seem just out of reach. Our daily lives and their restrictions are controled by people higher up than us. We get to keep the stage and sometimes make an appearance but the beat and rhythm are chosen for us. Many of us put on a smile and do our best to be up beat but it all feels mechanical and forced. The heart and soul of music is joy "I can ALMOST hear it"...but not quite. The song title reflects the irony of this. The choice of gospel sheet music was deliberate as well. My faith is the foundation running under it all, He keeps me going. God is always with us. While we are hiding out in quarantine mother nature takes every opportunity reclaim her territory, blooming around us, wild animals wandering down the streets in cities. Hence, the choice to give the performer a dress made of flower petals (Peruvian lily).
