We had some lovely West indian ladies who used to come to our art group at Burngreave Ashram Sheffield, before Covid. One had a daughter whom we all knew, whom she occasionally brought with her. The girl though healthy was brain damaged. It was passed around that some whites had battered the girl. The mother told us bluntly: nonsense, who ever told you all that. She went out drinking with her friends. I told her not to time and again. They began fighting and she got battered and was brain damaged. When people are drunk, they don't know what they are doing! I drew this picture of her at a visit for Mental Issues Week. I have not said this just because I don't drink myself. I see the proof all around me.
