This piece is inspired by a scripture in the Gospel of Luke that is very special to me. I have been through a lot of abuse in my life and I really struggled with my self worth until God picked me up out of the muck. He taught me that I am more than the sum of my feelings, more than the feelings I run from and more than the feelings I chase. Each one of us is fearfully and wonderfully made in His image. He created us because it pleased him to do so. The bible says we are His masterpieces.


I used some reference photos for the flowers and the birds, but the composition is a work of my imagination. The colour in the photo is a little off, the background is a little more blue. I didn't end up having a blending solvent I trusted so I burnished the background with a blending pencil. This was my first coloured pencil work with prisma color and oil based pencils combined. I found it to be a very forgiving medium, but more work physically lol.
