the Aurora Borealis, are beautiful dancing waves of light that have captivated people for millennia. But for all its beauty, this spectacular light show is a rather violent event. The northern lights, are they are called, they are an atmospheric phenomenon that's regarded as the Holy Grail of skywatching. I painted this in water colours on paper 14"x17". I tinkered with the image with a couple of filters to strengthen the colours, light and shadows and selective softening to make the painting visually exciting.
