Cucumber Beetles look pretty but this species is known as a pest which kills domestic plants and wildflowers alike. The Insects live about eight weeks, during which time both larva and adult feed on plants. Adults will attack the tender young grow of stem, leaves and buds and the petals of mature plants. The larvae often tunnel into the soil to attack roots. Cucumber Beetles can over-winter in crop fields and in compost trash piles. [Wikipedia]
