I met this beautiful young girl on the southern coast of Madagascar. Daughter of a fisherman, she lived in a village built mostly of palms and driftwood (and anything else they could find!), which was right on the beach! Her hair is that amazing colour because it has been bleached by a life constantly outside in the wind, sand, sun and sea spray. You can even see grains of sand on her face! She loved having her photo taken and through it we made such a bond that, before I left, she gave me a huge conch shell she had found - but only after teaching me to blow it like a horn, and really loud!
