Human Form Art Contest Contest Entry
Sabrina was done in 2019 completely in color pencil on 11" by 14" Strathmore paper. As the human form contest approached, I decided to use this painting by revising from copy I kept. I worked for hours on it, as I had on the original, and included a copy of one of the photographs of her (I took several, then worked from several pictures to get her likeness, in her office.) I painted her top like the photo but did not include her job pin or the whole skeleton and added the background wall behind her. As you on FAR know, the head size and form (along with facial features and hair, too, I think for the whole likeness) are important for their appropriate placement and for the body size and form as well. Most bodies are approximately six or seven heads high: from the center of the chest to the shoulder is about one head for each side, but often distance and height may vary slightly according if a male or female from side to side and body height. In height to mid-chest is often one head-; to the navel, another head size, on and on. I hope you enjoy this painting, observing how much it compares to Sabrina in the inset photo.
