Head waters of the Connecticut River

Third Connecticut Lake, NH

It's Sept 21 2013 my companions and I are on a photo Moose hunt. We started our "Moose Alley" trek (a series of dirt roads off of US Rte. 3) headed North from Pittsburgh, NH just before sunrise. Each of us had our own secret back country pond sure to be filled antler to antler with feeding Bull Moose. After an hour and half of visiting every marsh, pond and creek we could recall, nary a Moose did we see, not calf, nor cow or bull - Zero. This is the sight that greeted us on arrival at the Third Conn. Lake where the trek was to end. This spot is in spittin' distance from the international border with Canada. Just goes to show you never can tell, no Moose takes but a fair to middling landscape. In order to bring out the foliage colors I adjusted the White Balance shift to favor that color range (A5-M5) all manual settings. After a breakfast of biscuits, sausage gravy, home fries and coffee someone (me) said lets go see if there's any water at Crystal Cascade... Bob
