Hands Challenge Contest Entry
As two hearts unite on this special day,
Their love and commitment on full display,
With rings exchanged and promises made,
A new chapter begins a lifelong trade.
I took this photo during my nephew's wedding in Chennai in 2018. While exchanging rings is not a traditional part of the Indian ceremony, the new generation of youth incorporates this custom into ours. The groom will also give the bride a 'mangal sutra,' or sacred necklace, to symbolise their marriage. Seven vows are taken during the ceremony, but you won't see us locking lips.
This is the bridegroom's family's official asking for the bride's hand and a significant marker in the wedding journey. Typically, this event takes place a few days, or even months, before the wedding and marks the beginning of the preparations.
Observe the 'Mehndi,' otherwise known as henna, is a paste associated with positive spirits and good luck. on the bride's hands. And also the colourful red bangles.
Camera: Canon Sx130IS, Image cropped and adjusted to FAR requirements.
