Nature Photo Contest Contest Entry
Though I have many butterflies that frequent my garden, the Monarch's are special, because they are on the decline. I try to have lots of Butterfly Weed growing year round for them and keep a sharp eye on their caterpillars and chrysalis, which totaled more than 50 in the last year or so. It really amazes me where I will find them - hanging under leaves, under pricker-edged bromeliad leaves and once, even hanging from a lanai screen. This shot was taken in my front yard with my Canon EOS 90D, f/5.6, 1/160 sec., ISO-250, 0 step, 135mm, max ap - 5, no flash, no tripod.
