Birds Photos Contest Entry
Living on the water, surrounded by lots of tropical forests and jungles, makes for a non-stop show of nature's finest birds; the Tricolored Heron is one of them. An incredibly beautiful and elegant bird, it wades along our shoreline, slowly stalking its prey, fish. It has been sometimes mistaken for a shorebird, but technically it is not. They wade and they wait, their necks coiled and compressed, and then they lunge and strike with beaks like daggers. True shorebirds, run along the shore, often taking flight and re-landing in a very quick, well calculated fashion that aids in catching their pray. Herons move slowly and their flight looks somewhat clumsy as they lift off using their long legs and gloriously feathered wings. Camera - Canon EOS 90D, f/5, 1/125 sec., ISO-250, 0 step, 210mm, max ap - 4.75, no flash, no tripod.
