The Indri is the largest of the lemurs, it is the only lemur that has no tail, and it is critically endangered. I had the enormous privilege and pleasure to see them in the wild in Madagascar's Mangabe Forest Reserve. I stayed overnight in a small hotel on the edge of the forest and was woken to the sounds of their haunting calls, which can carry for up to nearly 3 miles - it was one of the most beautiful sounds in I've ever heard. At dawn we trekked through the forest with a guide for about two hours before we finally came across our first group, by which time the light had unfortunately become very harsh - it didn't stop me taking photos of course!
