Tri Colored English Coonhound Daisy May, a.k.a "Roobee the Rooster"/"Pretty Girl", was thrown, unwanted, out of her owner's pickup truck while driving down the highway in rural West Virginia. She then landed on the kill list at an outdoor "animal shelter" where I was lucky enough to meet her while volunteering there.

The thought of this sweet shy young hound dying after being let down by humans so many times already was more than I could bear, so even though I already had a full house, Daisy, along with another young hound on death row, came home with me to be fostered until rescue could be found.

So scared, she wouldn't even come into the house at first and just cowered at the door, Daisy eventually learned that she was safe, and to enjoy the normal doggie pleasures of sleeping on the bed, laying by the woodstove and "protecting" her yard from invading squirrels. Needless to say, I foster failed and ended up adopting both Daisy and her hound friend and was blessed to have had "Roobee" as a member of my family for over ten years before losing her to cancer in Feb. 2022
