~ For the first time in 221 years, two gigantic broods of periodical cicadas are set to emerge from the ground simultaneously in the U.S. to engage in a raucous mating frenzy.
The rare double cicada brood will include the two of the largest cicada broods, Brood XIII and XIX, which will co-emerge en mass after having lived underground for 17 and 13 years. This will mainly occur in the eastern southern states.
I CANT WAIT. Moving from California to Alabama last year I saw and held a beautiful green cicada. They are loud but fascinating. So the little one was my inspiration for this. I know they really do not dress up but it is fun to think they do. So here is my little cicada lady all dressed up taking her pet the Carpenter Bee out for a park stroll hoping to meet her mate. People have laughed seeing this and I hope you do too.
