On May 22, 2011 (that year saw a total of 1,770 tornadoes that year 3rd most ever recorded). A storm would produce one of the most devastating twisters that year when an EF5 tornado tore through the south side of Joplin. This tornado would produce a whopping 2.8 billion dollars in damage (I believe 2nd most in history). Unfortunately have the 7 most fatalities in history (158 plus 3 indirect deaths to push it 161) and 6th most injuries (1500+). This tornado would go one to destroy 25% of the city and leave a long-lasting scar visible on Google maps till this day. But fortunately, this city would rebuild bigger and better and add to their population!
