This polar bear mom and cub swam across the Churchill River to escape a boar (male polar bear) that was threatening the cub. We were part of the polar bear alert system to help guide the bears. Originally tried to get them to the other side of the river, away from the town of Churchill, but the mom wouldn't exit the river due to the boar that was threatening her cub. The vessels on the river then safely guided her to Cape Merry where she and her cub were safe. Conservation officers would have to push her further away from the town at this point.
