Old Buildings Contest Winner
A very small part of Alhambra, a huge fortress and palace complex build by the Arabs in the 13th century and taken over by the Spanish in the 15th century, when it became the royal court of King Ferdinand and and Queen Isabelle. It was here that Christopher Columbus received royal endorsement from Ferdinand and Isabelle for his expedition. It is one of the finest examples of Moorish architecture and a World Heritage site, and is situated overlooking Grenada in Spain.
