This is a photo from when our beloved Yorkie, Rusti Angel, was alive. It was seven years ago. By then, Rusti was diabetic and almost completely blind. My husband and I gave her insulin twice per day and I used my Special Education Teacher skills to set up consistent areas for her to play and feel safe, and I never treated her differently. She was so funny and sweet and she and I laughed like good friends. Here, we had time alone in the living room so I said, "Ok, Missy, let's take some selfies!" She got the idea. Then, she yawned very big and I couldn't stop laughing.
