From January 2023- Sunset was approaching as I sat in my photo blind about a hundred meters from my back door. The normally chatty birds in the dense wooded area to my left fell silent all at once. A few moments later, this stunning creature slipped out of the dense undergrowth. He seemed very suspicious of the peculiar shape of my blind with the cammo covered lens poking out the front and broke into a trot as if to escape as quickly as possible. Hearkening to my vast experience as a hunter in my youth, I offered up a verbal bleat as might be heard from a young whitetail deer. It worked like magic. He stopped dead in his tracks and stared directly into the camera just long enough for this shot. Seconds later, he was gone.
