This guy was actually on my deck eating a cardinal. At first, I was sad, but I soon got drawn into a very interesting process. I was only about 4 feet from him, sitting on the floor inside my patio door He massaged the bird for a couple minutes, rolling it around from side to side. Then moved on to plucking all the feathers with the same turning and rotating the small bird. Even spreading the wings out flat, until the feathers were gone. These types of procedures continued for some time in a very deliberate manor before finally flying off with his dinner. Then I went to clean up my deck :)
