When my mom died about 20years ago I was really down! I was taking care of her because she had a stroke. MY brother and his wife Wendy invited me to go with them when they closed their sea-side cabin in Maine for the season.. They told me it would be very relaxing! It was not! Here's what happened.
..............The drive was six hours and we arrived in the dark Columbus day weekend.
.............. We discovered we had no power..... We waited 2 hours before the power company got the lights on.
..............Soon after the lights came on flies seemed to be coming out of the woodwork
............... Flyswatters were no match for the onslaught. There was no odor anywhere that suggested something had died in the attic or beneath the cabin.
...............My sister-in-law said it looked like the flies were dancing on the large flat overhead lamp.
..... .........We used so much bug spray we almost fumigated ourselves. At 10 pm we had to make reservations at a hotel for the night. Next day we went to Walmart to get something to fumigate the cabin and went out for the day.
.................Later in the day we came back to air out the cabin and clean up all the dead flies.

...................When the vacation was over ( we did manage to have some fun). I decided to make something to commemorate the occasion. I made three flies out of acorns, glue, ribbon, wire, googly eyes and a berry for the nose. I stuck them in a styrofoam base and put a sign in it that said, "Keep on Dancin' " This image has one of those flies in it. I cut it out from a photograph I took of them.
