Looking down the out-let retaining wall at Crystal Lake State Park, Barton Vermont. Originally built in 1942 to stop the Out-Let from eroding the park property. The retaining wall changed the flow of water and a silting process began. I remember once, from this vantage point, you couldn't see the house on the opposite bank because the state dredged the head of the outlet and left a 20-foot-high pile of sand and silt. Of course, such a monument is sure to spark a child's imagination. The 'Sand Hill' became the self-proclaimed private property of every pre-teen kid in town. All that summer it was day after day of 'Capture the Flag' with a water feature just for laughs. Taken at the AM 'Golden hour', love that soft horizontal light, its magic... Bob
