The art of Costas Louzis aka Skitsofrenis can be seen many places in Greece and also other countries. He is best known for his murals which are sometimes socially critical, often emotional but always personal and direct. This painting is as you can see, not really a mural but a large painting hanging on a wall in Kardamili where we are staying.

It is showing two Greek freedonfighters. On the left you can see Petros Mavromichalis 1765–1848), also known as Petrobey. He was a Greek general and politician who played a major role in the lead-up and during the Greek War of Independence (1821-1829. Before the war, he served as the Bey of Mani.

Panagiotis Mourtzinos-Troupakis on the right, was another freedom fighter. And we are actually living in the same area he had his home – The Troupaki Tower – just behind the house we are living in.
