Listen

Autumn whispers tunes again
Amidst a golden haze
Nature’s music sings refrain
in abbreviated days
Summer plays a broken tune
Its season’s time is gone
Angels send a fragrance
Winds of incense wafting strong
I cannot help but wonder
How quick this time will go
Never seems to linger long
I wish it went by slow
Kaleidoscope of colors
Paint the season’s deeper tones
The garden flowers wither
Morning winds begin to moan
Summer waves goodbye to me
There is no time to grieve
Autumn has new songs to sing
Tunes whisper ‘mongst the breeze
Did you listen for the whistle
As the dawn plays out her song?
Or the sound of rustling leaves
On this path you stroll along?
Don’t miss the voice that calls you
Between every played out sound
The orchestration’s clever
wisdom’s secrets now abound
The trees are dressed in color
Their garments clinging tight
One morning you’ll awaken
To what slipped away at night
Naked branches can’t be hidden
Yet they boldly stand up strong
For they know they have a purpose
They won’t be exposed for long
Autumn comes in Whispered winds
Reminding us of shifting
And how important change can be
As God enlightens giftings
So dance among the falling gold
Like Heaven’s pouring rain
As dew drops shimmer in the sun
To usher in refrain
