Poverty in Madagascar

Black and White Photo Contest Contest Entry
A little boy I met in Madagascar. Madagascar is the poorest country in the world that is not at war and poverty can be seen everywhere you go. The inequalities are profound with corruption rife, even at the highest levels. The country has vast deposits of gemstones, from rubies and sapphires to tourmaline, garnet and topaz, plus minerals including gold, manganese and copper, but due to the appalling corruption there are very few local people who benefit from its country's riches.
