Length 14 - 16 cm/5.5 - 6.3 in, wingspan 27 - 34 cm/10.6 - 13.4 in and weighs just 35 - 40 g / 1.2 - 1.4 0z. They are very fast flyers and fly very low to the ground. They forage for food at the waters edge and run fast over the sand. They will lay 1 - 2 eggs between August and February and may attempt multiple broods in one season.
