Pinicola is Latin for "pine dweller" and enucleater is a reference to the bird's method of obtaining seeds hidden in protective cones. They are the colorful nomads of the northern forest. They are sometimes mistaken for the Purple Finch. But one look at this bird's grosbeak says it all. Enjoy... Bob
