I have always wanted to get some decent photos of a male wood duck; last fall we had a good sized flock of male/female wood ducks show up on our pond in the woods not far from the house. It started with a couple of pairs, and while they were gone one day, I put my blind up, not expecting them to return, but they did, with friends! So I had to sneak into the blind when i heard them calling and splashing in the pond , which meant crawling up on my hands and knees to keep out of sight. I was able to get quite a few nice photos, but the ducks were always at the other side of the pond; I really wanted to get a photo of one of the males closer to the blind. Finally, I lucked out, one of the males was swimming close by, and I was able to get a few photos before he got nervous and swam farther off. This is my favorite photo. Adjusted brightness, sharpness, minor distractions edited out.
