Let Love Be the Flag

Acrylic painting on a rough 14 "x 17" paper. This is the result of the traumatic scenes on TV.

" Make Love. Not War." This was a quote by John Lennon. This slogan was used throughout the 1960s and 1970s to represent resistance and nonviolence in response to the wars that were occurring.

Put down your guns, lay them to rest,
Let not the heart beat in a bulletproof vest.
The world is weary of cries in the night,
It longs for a touch, not another fight.

Hold a hand instead of hate,
Open the door, don’t seal the gate.
Let laughter rise where bombs once fell,
And let the children live and tell.

Build not walls but a warm embrace,
Find the light in every face.
A kiss, a song, a gentle sigh—
Can mend what bullets can only deny.

Peace begins in a quiet heart,
A single soul can play its part.
So let us write, with hands unshaking,
A story of love, worth remembering and making.
