Great close up shot of this regal creature! Great job of capturing his eye and facial features. Did he snap at you - looks like you got real close... :)

Comments: Great shot of this bad boy. I am not normally a fan of tightly cropped subject centered photos, but this is an exception. The detail is incredible. I can't think of anything I would change. Text book perfect artist notes. Great Information on the camera and Camera settings. Thank you for sharing.

He or She was HUGE! I guess I'm a little daring to go after snapping turtles, but I know how close I can get and always watch their attitude! Thank you for the wonderful review my friend. Your reviews always mean a lot to me....By the way what are fingers? :o) Helvi

Great initial impact. Very good focus and lighting. Good camouflage color harmony. The big bulgy eyes are the center of interest. Many years ago I saw one of these snapping turtles with it's jagged rear end of its shell in a swampy area in Marionette, WI. Good composition, cropping and framing. Good technique, technical skill and story telling potential. Creativity in title, presentation and artist's notes.

You did see her on land at daytime? That's really a gift. It is more than unusual. I assume that is a snapper sea turtle, is it? On what beach did you find her?
It is a outstanding capture, with great detail and amazingly capture of the skin texture and the eyes and beautiful natural colors.

Hi Cleo, No, this is a fresh water turtle. She was on the dike between a river and huge meadow pond. I saw her as she made the crossing from river to pond. She was very co-operative in letting me take pictures. She is officially called a snapping turtle. I'm glad you enjoyed the picture. Thanks for the wonderful review. :o) Helvi

Hi Cleo, Just thought I'd drop by again because I just added a lot of info about this turtle in my author's notes if you're interested in reading about it. :o) Helvi
-
I am, of course. We have four different sea turtles nesting on our beaches and several Land turtles in the jungle. Our whole community is protecting them. Any info about them is always welcome. Thank you so much :-)
-
No wonder that I was mistaken. The sea turtle I confused her with is the smallest of our sea turtles [28 inches] and is officially called Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle but most people her call her just Snapper do to the form of her mouth. There is indeed a resamblance of the head; I think.
Thank you very much for your kind reply and the information :-)
Cleo

Very nice capture here Helvi and it's as close as I would care to get to one of these creatures...does he have something in his mouth or is there a barnacle on the side of his face...no matter this is nicely done!

It could be a snail or just something it picked up while walking from river to pond. Glad you enjoyed the photo. I tried to get the best side of this guy's face, but ugly has no good side. LOL Thanks for the wonderful review. :o) Helvi

Whoa...this looks like a space alien! Excellent close up you have here. All the detail is shown so clearly on this odd looking creature, along with good lighting and patterns on the face.
