wow ! so eye captivating ! such amazing architecture back then ..the colors are so earthy and complimentary to one another ,,composition is excellent , so is the detail in your photo , the window in the near center is very magnetic , draws the eye straight into it and around the whole image

Your description on the photo is excellent and I share your feelings about the ancient artists entirely. What I like in this picture is that you have made the stones glow with some kind of a silky light which makes this sacred place looks magical!

This is a nice shot. The color, contrast, and lighting are good. The framing is good too. The subject is sharp, and good story telling ability. its amazing the artwork and detail that was done, so long ago. Thanks for sharing.

I feel like I'm stepping into the past! I can almost see it when it was first painted. It must have been glorious.

Think it is marvelous. Good composition. I would have taken a shot like this as well and then others more detailed. The paintings have lovely colours, pity they were not protected from fading.

I think I know how you felt when you saw these ancient frescos. I am religious, but not Christian. I don't think that affects the awe of seeing these, even in their state of decay. In 2006 I was in Israel. One of the places I visited was Masada. I have posted one photo looking down from the top of Masada. If you are not aware of Masada, it is an isolated plateau on the top of cliffs in the Judean desert. King Herrod built his retreat here over 2000 years ago. What is so amazing is that there are still tiles on some of the floors that date to that time. There are also paintings, which I think are frescos, but I'm not sure on some of the walls. These paintings are also over 2000 years old. The dry desert has so far preserved these pieces of the ruins. Because of the lighting and not having an appropriate camera, I don't have photos that I can post of these marvels. I do have snapshots that I can enjoy for memories. I'm so pleased for you that you were able to capture his magnificent image. I can totally understand your not wanting to make any kind of change to this photo, making it as true to your view as is possible with a camera. Thank you so much for posting this treasure. I am so pleased that you decided to share this wonderful piece of history with us. I think you did a magnificent job in capturing this church, which in what I seem to recall is the older Greek Orthodox tradition, has no seating arrangement. Everyone stood through the whole service. I am not totally positive of this memory, but it does stick in my mind. Again, thank you so much for posting this wonderful piece of religious architecture with its magnificent paintings.

Boy Annie wouldn't you have liked to seen it when it was all there and freshly painted? It must have been beautiful. I always marvel at the magnificent work that was done with crude tools in anchient times. I wonder if future generations will feel the same about what is being done today?

Good framing
Good lighting
Good composition
Good initial impact
Good overall presentation

Good initial impact. Good focus, lighting and color harmony. The center of interest is to appreciate what remains and guess what is gone. The strong faith of the people who created it remains as a testimony of their gift to us. Good composition. Good technique, technical skill and story telling potential. Creativity of the title and thanks to artist for sharing this presentation.
