If it wasn't for that black object in bottom right hand corner I would give 5.5 stars and say send this to national geographic what a cool photo shame about that corner. Well done

Wonderfully natural photo of moment of discovery. Good colours and focus. Love her expression. Could have been cropped 10% right side & 3% left and maybe rotated clockwise 5deg.

on my copy it is not so dark and the carpet and door are sort of visible, I don't know why they come over so dark when I transpose them onto the site, and it is not just this pic.I'll admit it was in shadow, as England is not the brightest of countries and she was crouching low on the verrandah covered in carpets, they are still very dark. thank you

I see what you mean now. I have had same problem with density in some photos posted. Understood.

actually, the black patch is the black hair of the little sister of the girl in the picture- who was always shooing away the mother bird when it tried to sit on its eggs.
