Very nice artistic rendering that does an excellent job of capturing the soul of this magnificent animal.
Appropriate mixture of softness and sharpness that focuses the attention on the eyes. The image has a nice three dimensional impact. The color palette seem to be a bit odd but then it works quite well and is attractive.
Well executed.

Wow, what a encouraging review and such a great rating! Thank you. I am happy you like him. Its not the same kind as up north. We have the smallest variant, in rare numbers in our jungle. They are called Gato Spirito, Ghost Cat in several part of Latin America, due to their behavior because they come and go like ghosts. I tried to capture some of their ability to melt into the jungle. The colors of the cat are the colors of nature. The yellow-green is the color of the jungle in spring or fall when many of the trees change their leaves, or in draught when all plants dump their leaves.

Nothing to do with this image. The one thing that has always seemed strange about our puma is to me the head is just too small for the body. There are now confirmed cases of them being spottend in Missouri, the first time in many decades. The confirmed cases have been further confirmed with one or two having been shot. Very powerful cat for its size and here too, they blend into their environment and are seldom seen.
Your fellow has the look of an inquisitive young one, full of spirit.
-
I never noted about the head; but there is may a difference as is in size.
I assume that is a young one. I was once; years ago, so lucky to get some shots in a nature reserve. Unfortunately negatives and prints got damaged to much in the hurricanes of 2005. I was unable to restore them.

I have been a lucky guy physically. My eyesight is now at age 71 (in May) is still better than perfect although fine print gives me fits. My main physical problem is a pinched nerve which I am now slowly recovering from - gives me pain in my legs, moves around - today my left leg tomorrow my right leg.
What kind of place do you live in. About the only place in Mexico that I am familiar with is Tijuana where I spent a bit of time working.
Looking forward to Spring, but we now have another warning of more Winter stuff to follow. Oh well, woon enough we will be complaining about the excessive het.

At the moment I am still in Texas, right now at the hospital. Our home is at the farthest south of Mexico. Geographically more Central than North America. Its counted North America only because it politically belongs to Mexico. We live on the Caribbean Coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, 50 miles south of Cancun about 250 miles north of the Belize border. The Geographic location provides us with a nature unique to the area. We have species [animal and plant] from South and Central America, the Caribbean and North America. Some of the plant species originate as far as Africa and Madagascar, the seeds brought in by the Ocean.
San Antonio has a heat wave. After having 40F just a week ago; the high yesterday was 99F! in March! That is crazy, even for Texas. [Quite warmer than the Yucatan].

Very nice creation. You have taken a predator and make him look so gently and loving. I love the softness to this artwork. He appears to be ready to jump out of the picture. Excellent composition :)

Very good representation.
You really captured those eyes beautifully as well as his nose and mouth.
Great color clarity, defintion.
Like the green hues in the background and how the cat's body fades into the background.
Well done.

This is digital art? You could have fooled me! How little I know? Beautifully 'manipulated'. The soft tones belie the ferocity of this gorgeous animal, but at the same time tell the viewer that this big cat has a more benign side. Gorgeous. Congratulations ... a stunning work of art.

Thank you very much! I appreciate you review.
Yes, this is digital; but it is painted in a traditional technique with hundreds of brush strokes.

This just may be one of your best paintings! It is dreamy and somewhat stylized, but has compelling eyes. You have given him a mystical look. I believe all cats have a bit of the mystical in them. And they are also dangerous. DonkeyOatey

Thank you for such an favorable review and all that gold.
Yes the could be dangerous and I have heard of incidents with mountain lions north of the border. In all my 18 years at Yucatan I have never heard of a single incident with our big cats [including puma and jaguar] with any of our wild cats, but I hear almost daily of incidents with an animal called human.
Those cats have the nickname Gato Spirito, Ghost Cat; because even if one gets a glimpse of them, they are gone like ghosts the next moment. Without the dog I wouldn't even know when they are around. They are mostly nocturnal ans very shew, at least the latino species.

As long as they have room, they are not a danger, it is when we squeeze them! i was lucky enough to get a picture of a wild jaguar in Belize, it was an unforgettable moment! Donkeyoatey

You are lucky, I have seen them, but never got any got any good pictures. Either, to far away in dark or dawn or to much jungle ion the way. Its easier from moving water, I hear; but Quintana Roo has neither streams our rivers. There are good opportunity at Sian Kaan, but I never had the opportunity to go there.

wow a fAB write up that gives you an educational insight to the most beautiful of painted cats. i did not know about the relations to the house variety but the features you have depicted, makes perfect sense. i can't think of who would not love such lovely animals and the soulful eyes are perfect in the darkened sockets.

Thank you!!!
It's with them like with the snakes. People dislike them, because they do not understand and fair them. I have heard of some incidents with Mountain Lions In USA and Canada, but I didn't hear of one incident involving any of our big cats, including the puma, since I live in Latin America [18 years now]. Truth I do hear of a lot of incidents with an animal called human.
