This is really spectacular. What an amazing capture of this seed pod. It looks like an alien from outer space. This could not have been easy to photograph. Great focus and depth of field. Awesome photo!

This is incredibly interesting with some similarities to a pine cone, but not really! A very pretty and unique pod which I can certainly see why it is used for decorating purposes. Wonderful color and texture shown in this photograph with amazing illumination to see it well.

Hey, this close up is captured amazingly, the sun light on the Banksia goes really well with the blurred green leaf and the white leaves with the yellow tip separates the darker left hand corner nicely.. The blue shadow to the right gives it a nice depth.. I like the things that look like lips lol' 'Singing in Nature?'
Would look awesome on a printed canvas :)

Mary,
A wonderful picture of this Australian unique seed pod. It would make a great Bird feeder if you put bird seed in the empty pods or hanging basket for small plants. Beautiful composition & lighting superb camera techniques with sharp focus.

Thanks Susan the pods are actually used by some people for carving and making things out of - Mae Gibbs wrote childrens stories about the Banksia people and the illustrations in her books are quite amazing. They were always the villains of the story :) Mary

Technically excellent, the sharpness and focus couldn't be better. You might want to clone out that brown stem(?) in the lower right and replace it with some green.

Great macro shot Mary Elizabeth and great to see you back behind a viewfinder once again. I really like thge detail you have achieved in this shot. Excellent camera work. Very different and very well done. You may get some questions like 'what's a banksia?'from the rest of the world.
