There is nothing so interesting in my opinion as human facial expression. And one would be hard-pressed to capture a more varied and complex set of emotions than those exhibited by such a thespian talent as James Dean, a face beyond the dreams of portrait artists everywhere. His must be the measure of an artist to faithfully record by hand with those classic instruments of the art of portraiture. There is nothing to criticize here. The biggest danger is in taking the image for granted, so effortlessly does it seem that it has come to life and evoked within us that plain familiarity we had from our first sights on film and screen. I suspect it was not effortless, though even if it were, one must marvel at the patience, diligence and talent required to excite in us that measure of enjoyment we had when we were first introduced to the subject at the cinema. It is difficult to refrain from studying that face at length, and then returning to it again and again.

Feel like I grew up with James Dean. It portrays him well, and the detail is just outstanding. Saw all his movies several times. Followed him closely in all the movie magazines. Really nice work, Linda.

What an amazing work this is! The detail is amazing. The shadows really emphasise the intense gaze in his eyes. I like the tight framing, keeping us focused on the subject, this stunning young man! This is an absolutely eye pleasing work. Thank you so much for sharing

this is a splendid drawing. i'm not sure i saw the first but i don't see how you can get any better than this. his facial features are fabulous and nicely proportioned. his eyes and mouth are very well done as are the highlights and shadows. great job!
