This is a stunning portrait of the young Paul Newman and love this moody portrait style. You have created his facial features beautifully and captured the essence of him. So realistic are his features and your shading and blending of graphite. Nice use of light and shadows creating depth and interesting. as always the pencil brings this work to life. the facial expression is perfect. the details is excellent. the shading is superb. the dept is perfect. the creation is well balanced and very eye appealing to the viewer. so very creative and awesome work overall. (standing clapping and cheering) woooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooo.....ok now after all this it is finally a winner..wink wink..lol

Beautiful contrast of dynamics well executed lighting, the eyes should all ways have a shadow under the top eyelid this will give it depth and more realistic and alive, to do a portrait like this takes a lot of patients nice work

WOW - What a great looking portrait of Paul Newman; one of my favorite actors. I especially like the low key treatment, and how lovely the light is falling on his face. The shadings are just perfect, and the likeness is remarkable.
I probably don't even need to say it, but this is also done paying good attention to details, and as always your pencil work is excellent.
The format and the framing is just perfect and it is indeed a good balance in the composition. Beautiful work Linda, and I wish you luck with the contest.

So much to like about this piece. The stark background, the sideways pose and the LIGHT....just beautiful the way you have it shining on the face in profile...and the contemplative look is so compelling. Then, of course, there's always your skill w/ drawing w/ whatever medium you've chosen to use.
This is quite simply- stunning. I am so sorry I used my final gold star a few hours ago. This deserves one.....easily see why it won this particular contest btw. Lovely lovely work.

For an artist to draw the human head anatomical correct is a different plateau. Not an easy feat . But for that artist to step it to the portrait . A portrait of a celebrity no less .
