This is indeed a beautiful purple poppy Deborah, and you have pictured it in the best possible way. I especially like the inclusion of the pod in the background and of course also how well the flower is standing out from the background.

Your focus is just spot on and sharp and especially the middle part of the Poppy is really well defined, but you also see very fine details in the petals. The exposure is perfect and the colors truly crisp and clear.

The photo is neatly cropped and the flower has got a very fine placement within the frame. A truly beautiful and well taken flower photo, and with an excellent DOF.

Hi Deb!
I don't know anything about this purple species,but I know a LOT about Papaver Somniferum and the thirty seven
( or is it thirty nine? ) opium alkyloids extracted from it.But rather than go on about that right now I'll just say that I think this picture is beautiful!

Your presentation, or composition if you will, is different, and fresh. Most flowers are shown the other direction, to catch the eye on the center first..you lead us to the super sharp and well detailed center, using a bud and lovely petals!
