When I first look at this picture, I am not sure what is supposed to be the main subject of the photo...1) The blossoming of the trees that somehow create a frame... framing what? Not really the entire house; cannot be the window nor the door because both are not in the photo in their entirety. So then I move back to 2) the house in the back ground....looks good with the blossoming trees in the foreground that are trying to frame it somehow, but probably not, even though the bricks with the off yellow (I think it is) that is shown throughout the front of the home is truly a lovely sight. Then my eyes divert themselves to 3) the gray picket fence at the forefront of the photo. It must be the fence I decide. Such a lovely looking fence it is too. It looks as if it is freshly painted; so unweathered it is. I then go back to the contests and realize it is a submission for a Residential Gate. I look back at the photo and then I put the two and two together. This photo's subject is supposed to be the gate; not the blossoming trees, nor the house; not even the fence....just the gate. It took me a few minutes.... Sorry about that. I was a little slow with this one...but maybe there is a lesson here after all. First impressions do say a lot, and with this photo --- no matter how lovely the photo is---I had a difficult time figuring out what the main subject was supposed to be.
The photo itself is crisp and very clear and the contrast, saturation, hue, and overall composition are all good. However, as an entry for this particular contest, I would have perhaps just changed my angle and placed more focus on the gate than anything else when taking the picture. I feel you would want the viewer to know exactly what you wanted them to look at in your photo....First impressions do take hold and can count for a lot. I by no means mean any ill will against you nor anything derogatory against you personally: I am just sharing what I feel and see about your photo. If you feel I overstepped my boundaries or hurt you in anyway, I truly am sorry. That was not my intention at all. I hope you understand what I am trying to convey to you in my Review of your photo. Thanks so much for sharing. It really is a lovely photo. I do like it.

Thank you for your incredibly detailed review. I tend to look at the title of someone's image and I guess I was thinking that others might do the same. However I see where you are coming from and appreciate the feedback. I will be more mindful in a contest to concentrate on the subject.

I too look at the title as well as the Artist's notes (if there are any) and then I concentrate on the photo itself. One time I read someone's Artist's notes and what they had written had absolutely nothing to do with the photo at all. I mentioned that to the individual in my Review and they replied I should ignore the Artist's notes. HMMMM....
Anyway you should always take everyone's comments with a grain of salt. I usually end up learning something when I read the Reviews I receive. Again, please know that my Review meant nothing bad to you. I hope you know that, I was merely just sharing what I felt deep down when looking at your photo,

A nice shot with the house well framed by the flowering trees and the fence. The gate at #35 is shown in fine detail although the image seems to list to the right. Best of luck in the contest.
