I really like this image. Nice thought to convert it to mono! The texture is beautiful and contrast and exposure is right on with detail through out the range of tones. Nice eye to spot this image. Congrats.

Very story-telling minimalism. Amazing lightning. I could hear the street noise by looking at this photo. Very well done black and white retouch.

Oh good notes Steve. Would have wondered what this was all about.

Must have been a challenge to line this one up. I, at first thought it was crooked but it's not. I used to always say "I am not a big fan of B&W' but think I mustt stop saying that....especially when I see photos such as yours here. The B&W gives it a real old-world feel....definitely appropriate here so kudos to you for doing that. Focus and all the technical 'stuff' is just right here.

Mostly I love that you saw a photo in this. I always appreciate when someone sees the photo that so many others walk by. I love the little string going from the bell into the window...lol...a sort of reverse doorbell isn't it!!

Nicely done Steve...all the way around.

Deborah

Perfect choice done in black and white to give it that vintage look. I am drawn to this picture because of that and you have done the black and white so well. It is nicely framed with the bell off to the right. Excellent details and like that this is unique! Nice memory! A pleasure to view! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so very much my friend. I cannot tell you how much your review means to me ~ Steve

You are 'gifted' to 'see' things that others on here are not so fortunate to see. I will be watching for your posts.

Sorry, got a bit too emotional. Sorry.

Sort of quirky photo that you should take on holiday, its easy just to get standard views on holiday, but theres always room for something else, and the fact you decided on b/w gives it that extra quirkness, like this one...brian

Thank you Brian. You are so right about just taking standard holiday shots. I like to look for the unusual. Otherwise I just buy a post card. Appreciate your comments and review Brian ~ Steve

Italians are superb artists and amazing Architects/craftsmen.
It is the wee metal roof covering the bell that I love most of all Steve. I like the black and white, the textures, leading lines, highlights and slight darkness on the corners.
My only suggestion is to not have cropped to tight around the window frame.
Nice work Steve;)

Thank you for your insightful and constructive comments Sandra. It was the little tin roof that attracted my eye in the first place. The wall was a horrible dirty pink color so B&W was a logical choice and it also gave the scene an 'old world' look. You are right about the tight cropping. Not sure why I chose to do that. I know I played with it. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time. Just goes to show it's hard to find good help these days ; ) Thanks again for all your suggestions Sandra ~ Steve

I really like the simplicity of this shot, and this is enhanced by the change into a black and white photo. The little bell is really pretty, and I had to smile when I saw that a little roof was built over it. I also like very much the tight framing.

Your photo is also nice and sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen, together with great textures.

The format you have cropped the photo into is just perfect, and the bell is nicely set off to the right. Indeed an original, great looking and well taken photo.

What a good picture that will always remind you of your holiday there.
The way you took the picture is good because it is the little bell which is shaded that makes it.
Great in black and white although I wonder what it would like in color.

Thank you so very much for your kind review. In color, the wall was an off shade of pink, not very attractive. The bell and roof were rather plain. That is one reason I went with black and white and to give it that 'old world' look. Thank you again ~ Steve
